Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is a vital field with incredibly wide applications – it forms an essential part of most systems in consumer, medical, military and communications markets. Anywhere that information is detected, hidden, analysed, enhanced, communicated, compressed or encrypted, DSP is almost certain to be used. This means that most electronic and software engineers will have to deal with DSP applications at some time – and the sad fact is that DSP academically remains a minority subject – and worse, one that is often taught badly in a theoretical way. To make matters even worse, DSP is seen as an intensely mathematical subject with a lot of concepts that are hard to grasp.
To use DSP effectively you must understand the nature of signals, the effects and use of DSP processes, how to analyse signals and the processing required for given applications, how to estimate computational requirements, and how to implement the processing cost effectively.
To address these challenges, the 3-day course will not only allow you to gain a clear understanding of the tools available in DSP – what they do, how they work and when to use them – but also be able to estimate, based on clear and methodical approaches, what processing you should use and what computational resources you need to do it with. Along the way you will gain valuable and enjoyable practical insights based on specific cases that you will be able to refer to for your own applications.
